Drag, open, done

Open it once and a little cloud appears in your menu bar. That's the whole setup.

The first picture takes a moment

The first one takes a little while. Every picture after that comes quickly.

Point ButterKnife at it

Paste its address into ButterKnife, type /image in any chat, and watch.

Keep what it makes

Every picture lands in your Pictures folder, with the prompt tucked inside so you always know how it was made.

Questions

What do I need?

A Mac with an Apple Silicon chip (any M‑series), 16 GB of memory or more, and about 30 GB of free disk. Intel Macs can't run it. Nothing else to install.

Is anything sent anywhere?

Only the one-time model download, about 10 GB from Hugging Face. Prompts and pictures stay on your machine and your network. No account, no telemetry.

Does it work without ButterKnife?

Yes. Anything that speaks the OpenAI images API can use it, and the page at the server's address lets you type a prompt and get a picture.

Which model, and can I change it?

Z-Image-Turbo, which makes a good picture in a handful of steps. Other models and quality settings are a command-line option away.
